Micron Technology's semiconductor chip assembly and testing facility in Sanand, Gujarat is expected to become operational next year. This was stated by the executive of the company at the Nasscom Technology & Leadership Forum (NTLF) in Mumbai.
The unit will be engaged in assembling and testing advanced dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) and NAND flash products for India as well as for the global market. These products would meet the standards of all its global customers in smartphones or cloud computing.
Micron has lined up a USD 2.7 billion investment for its semiconductor chip assembly and test facility in Sanand. India's semiconductor policy which the government announced two years back, has laid out a vision and specific incentives for research, design, and manufacturing of semiconductors.
Among semiconductor design companies, recently, AMD inaugurated its largest global design centre in Bengaluru. The AMD Technostar campus is part of the company’s USD 400 million investment in India over the next five years.
