Mahindra Holidays to invest Rs 4,500 crore to double room capacity

Infrastructure  -  Feb 27,2024  -

Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India (MHRIL) plans to invest up to Rs 4,500 crore to double its room capacity to 10,000. The company's expansion strategy includes setting up new resorts, brownfield expansion and acquisitions to increase room count by FY30.

MHRIL is also focusing on public-private partnership (PPP) and tie-ups with state governments. The company has already tied up with the Uttarakhand government and identified two land parcels for a Rs 1,000-crore investment.

It has signed a MoU with the Tamil Nadu government for about Rs 800 crore investment. In Odisha, it has been allotted two pieces of land to take up projects by investing Rs 500 crore.

Besides, the company is looking at another piece of land in Puri. Currently, about Rs 835 crore of investment is underway for five greenfield, brownfield, and acquisition projects, comprising about 690 keys.

The investment is planned for scaling up to at least Rs 2,000 crore in the next year and then scale it up to Rs 4,000-4,500 crore in three to four years to achieve 5,000 keys by 2030.  In January this year, the company had announced that it would invest Rs 800 crore in Tamil Nadu to build three greenfield resorts, following the Rs 1,000 crore investment in Uttarakhand last year.
