Infrastructure May 12,2026

The Maharashtra government has approved the 134 km Neral–Shirur highway project aimed at easing congestion on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway.

The proposed corridor is expected to improve regional connectivity and provide an alternative route for traffic movement between major urban and industrial centres.

Road expansion projects of this scale are essential to support rising vehicular traffic and freight movement.

The highway is also expected to reduce travel time and improve logistics efficiency across the region.

The approval highlights continued focus on strengthening transport infrastructure in western India.
