Madhya Pradesh Announces Jabalpur-Bhopal-Indore Industrial Corridor with ₹1 Lakh Crore Investment Target
The Madhya Pradesh government has announced an industrial corridor linking Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore. The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting. The corridor starts at Jabalpur, passes through Bhopal and ends at Indore. It is aimed at accelerating industrial growth, particularly in the Mahakaushal region.
The state has allocated ₹100 crore through a fully state-owned company set up under the Industries Department. The Chief Minister will chair the company’s governing council to speed up decisions and coordinate the departments involved.
In the first phase, the government plans to develop 3,000 to 10,000 acres of land for industrial use. The state estimates the corridor could attract investments of over ₹1 lakh crore by March 2028. It is expected to generate about 1 lakh direct and 2 lakh indirect jobs.
The government sees potential in the belt from Jabalpur and Narsinghpur to Raisen, citing tourism, mining, agriculture and heavy industry. Existing road, power, water and air connectivity is expected to support industrial units. Jabalpur and surrounding areas have potential for logistics activity. Food-processing units and warehouses will be promoted in Narsinghpur and Raisen.
The corridor is part of a wider state push to attract investment across Mahakaushal, Malwa and Central India. Over the next three years, the state is targeting investments of over ₹3 lakh crore. The state is also preparing a Global Investors Summit in Bhopal.
