Lubrizol and Polyhose Inaugurate Medical Tubing Manufacturing Facility in Chennai
Lubrizol and Polyhose have jointly inaugurated a manufacturing facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, aimed at expanding local production of precision medical tubing used in minimally invasive medical devices. The facility focuses on producing precision extruded tubing for neurovascular and cardiovascular applications.
The site is designed as an ISO 13485-certified operation, aligning with Lubrizol's global manufacturing standards. The facility produces tubing using materials including polyamides, nylon, Pebax, polypropylene, polyethylene, and Lubrizol's medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), supporting a range of device applications across the medical sector.
According to the companies, the facility brings catheter tubing capabilities closer to customers across India and the IMEA region, enhancing collaboration with medical device OEMs through the product development lifecycle. The plant is also expected to improve supply reliability for domestic and global customers.
The development reflects continued investment in India's MedTech manufacturing ecosystem, combining Polyhose's extrusion expertise with Lubrizol's materials science capabilities, with the companies citing plans to support skilled job creation and strengthen India's role in the global medical device supply chain.
