LDA Allocated 22 Hectares in Cantonment Area for Green Corridor Development

Manufacturing  -  Nov 15,2024  -

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has been granted a 22-hectare parcel of land within the Lahore Cantonment (Cantt) area for the development of a green corridor. This initiative is part of the city's efforts to improve its urban environment and address growing environmental concerns.

The decision was made following discussions with the Lahore Cantonment Board (LCB), which has agreed to lease the land for the creation of a green space aimed at enhancing the city's air quality, promoting biodiversity, and providing residents with a much-needed recreational area. The project will not only provide aesthetic value but also contribute to better air circulation and improved living conditions for local communities.

The green corridor is expected to feature a mix of parks, tree plantations, and pedestrian walkways, providing a much-needed natural buffer amidst the increasing urbanization of the city. The LDA has outlined plans to incorporate sustainable design elements, including rainwater harvesting systems and energy-efficient lighting, to ensure that the project meets modern environmental standards.

In addition to improving the local ecosystem, the project is also seen as a major step toward promoting a healthier lifestyle by offering people a safe space for outdoor activities. The authorities are optimistic that the green corridor will serve as a model for future urban developments, focusing on the balance between infrastructure and nature.
