KREDL Floats Tender for 200 MW/400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System at Huliyurdurga, Karnataka

Power Generation Jun 22,2026

Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) has invited bids to select developers for setting up a 200 MW/400 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at Huliyurdurga in Karnataka. The project will be developed under the build-own-operate model and is eligible for central financial assistance in the form of viability gap funding.

Under the tender guidelines, the selected developer will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining the BESS, and for connecting it to the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited substation at Kushtagi Huliyurdurga. Discoms will supply the energy required for charging the BESS and will manage charging and discharging schedules on an on-demand basis.

Bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of ₹5,00,000 per MW along with a bid processing fee of ₹20,000 per MW.

No total project investment figure has been disclosed in the tender details. The development follows KREDL's broader push into storage-linked renewable infrastructure, with the tender expected to draw participation from BESS developers and EPC contractors operating in Karnataka's power sector.
