Inox Air Products will establish its first green hydrogen project at Chittorgarh in Rajasthan. The plant will generate up to 190 tonne green hydrogen per annum through the electrolysis process.
The company will set up and operate the plant and supply clean energy to Asahi India Glass (AIS) under a 20-year offtake agreement. It would supply 95 tpa green hydrogen to AIS in Phase-1. The project will be powered by solar energy and will be commissioned by July 2024.
It is expected to reduce carbon emissions by around 1,250 MT annually, and by 25,000 MT over this period. AIS’s Soniyana Float Glass facility will be the first-ever plant in the float glass industry in India.
Inox Air Products, in its partnership with AIS for Chittorgarh facility, marks the beginning of its green hydrogen journey. The Mumbai-based company is a leading manufacturer of industrial and medical gases, and has a manufacturing capacity of 3,400 tpd of liquid gases delivered from 47 operating locations.
Apart from solar power, AIS is also investing to generate electricity from flue gases before releasing through chimneys.
