IndiGrid operationalises its first greenfield transmission project in Maharashtra

Infrastructure  -  Apr 03,2024  -

Infrastructure investment trust IndiGrid has operationalised its first greenfield transmission project, Kallam Transmission, at Beed, in Maharashtra. The trust had won the project in December 2021, through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) to develop it on a build, own, operate and maintain (BOOM) basis for a period of 35 years.

The project consists of one substation of 2x500 MVA capacity with 400/220 kV, as well as 10 Bays with a LILO multi circuit line of 18 km. The project will enable evacuation of one GW of power from renewable energy (RE) projects in Dharashiv area of the state and will play a key role in strengthening the transmission system by improving the grid availability for RE integration.

In November 2022, IndiGrid was also awarded the augmentation work in the KTL project for evacuation of an additional one GW of renewable power under the regulated tariff mechanism (RTM). It has built execution expertise which enables to participate in the bidding pipeline via TBCB route.
