India’s first shipbuilding special purpose vehicle has been formed to develop a mega shipbuilding cluster at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu.
The SPV has been created to plan and execute large-scale shipbuilding infrastructure.
The cluster will include shipyards, repair facilities, and supporting industrial units. Thoothukudi has been identified for its coastal location and port connectivity.
The initiative aims to strengthen domestic shipbuilding capabilities
