IGI Airport's Terminal II to undergo refurbishment for capacity expansion

Infrastructure  -  Jan 13,2025  -

Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi is set to undergo a major refurbishment of its Terminal II to enhance its capacity and improve the overall passenger experience. The refurbishment, announced by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), which operates the airport, will modernize key areas of the terminal and its surrounding infrastructure.

This refurbishment is part of DIAL's broader commitment to establishing IGI Airport as a world-class travel hub for both India and Southeast Asia. The upgrades are specifically designed to accommodate the anticipated surge in domestic passenger traffic.

The refurbishment work will begin in the new fiscal year (FY 2025-26), with an expected completion date in the second quarter of the same fiscal year. During this period, Terminal II will be temporarily closed for approximately four to six months.

DIAL assured that the temporary shutdown of Terminal II would cause minimal disruption to operations, as the newly developed Terminal I will handle the additional passenger load.
