A delegation from Hyundai Shipbuilding called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to discuss establishing a shipbuilding project in Thoothukudi. The proposed project involves an investment of approximately ₹38,000 crore.
The project is expected to generate around 15,000 direct employment opportunities in the region. Thoothukudi, a port town on Tamil Nadu's southern coast, has been positioned by the state government as a focus area for heavy engineering and maritime infrastructure investment.
