Lummus Technology has announced that Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. will licence its phenol and Lummus/Versalis cumene and olefins conversion technology for a new plant in West Bengal, India.

When HPL's plant is finished, it will be the biggest phenol and cumene plant in India as well as the first on-purpose propylene plant in the country.

A pioneer in the specialised chemicals market and India's first integrated operator in the phenolics value chain, HPL will also benefit from this milestone.

The incorporation of OCT will enhance the petrochemical industry in India by permitting the domestic manufacturing of phenol products instead of relying on imports.
