Infrastructure  -  Sep 04,2023  -

The Government of Gujarat's ambitious medical device park in Nagalpar, near Rajkot, which will be established on 250 acres with a financial grant-in-aid of Rs. 250 crore from the Centre, will be operational by the end of 2024.

The medical device park in Rajkot district, which has been conceptualised as a commercially and economically viable initiative, is expected to generate 100-150 million USD in investment over three years.

“The state government will chip in more funds to make the medical device park run smoothly which is estimated to house around 400 medical device companies. Nagalpar is an engineering hub and setting up a medical device park will bring in good Return on Investments (RoI). It is expected to facilitate research and development, testing, manufacturing, training, incubation in the medtech space for medical device companies,” informed Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) commissioner H G Koshia.

Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has initiated the process of setting up a medical device park at Nagalpar in Rajkot to promote medical device manufacturing in the state.

The Government of India has taken several measures to encourage domestic manufacturing of drugs including bulk drugs and medical devices to reduce import dependence.
