Infrastructure  -  Jun 19,2024  -

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has decided to build an exhibition-cum-convention centre in Sector Chi of the planned city about 40 km from Delhi. The decision was taken at the GNIDA board meeting on 15 June, 2024. Around 25 acres has been set aside for the project.

At its meeting, the authority also approved the construction of Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) in Dadri for logistics and handling of rail cargos. It will come up on 260 acres near the inland container depot (ICD) in Dadri. This land is situated near Pali and Makora villages in Gautam Budh Nagar district. This facility will provide employment opportunities to about 15,000 people.

The convention centre will also have a hotel facility on the upper floors of the building and a garden.

With the construction of the cargo terminal which will facilitate the movement of freight through a dedicated freight corridor (DFC), the region is expected to become the main logistics hub of National Capital Region (NCR).

It will be developed under the guidelines from the Union government wherein each state has to develop GCTs to boost investment and for better handling of cargo across the country. The proposal will be sent to the Uttar Pradesh government for approval.
