Godrej Consumer Products MD and CEO Sudhir Sitapati said that the company will manufacture all its product categories from the company's first multi-product facility coming upin Tamil Nadu.
Godrej Consumer Products, MD&CEO Sudhir Sitapati said, "The intention is to set up a multi-category factory from scratch, where we will make soaps, deodorants, hair colours, and our entire gamut of products. We operate in eight to nine categories of consumer products, and we will be manufacturing around six to seven of these here in Tamil Nadu."
Rising demand and need for efficient supply chain drive the decision as Godrej also plans to follow the same model for its next Gwalior unit.
“We are also targeting high levels of digitisation in the shop floors and focusing on sustainability. We are developing it as a lighthouse factories are a community of facilities and there are only four to five such lighthouses in India," Sitapati added.
“Our Goodknight machines, for instance, have been manually assembled in the past but in the new factory we are trying out ways to get it automated," the executive said.
