GAIL has announced that it intends to set up 1500 KTA ethane cracker project at Ashta, district Sehore in Madhya Pradesh, having product slate of various ethylene derivatives.

GAIL said that the project will entail projected investment of Rs 60,000 crore

In an exchange filing, the company said that it has submitted its request to the Madhya Pradesh government for the for providing suitable enablers for the project.

"It is noteworthy that this project involving an investment of about Rs 60,000 crore will be the country's largest ethane cracker project. A green field petrochemical complex is also proposed in this project. Under this, petrochemicals like LLDPE, HDPE, MEG and propylene will be produced. Through this project, 15,000 people will get employment during the construction period and about 5,600 people will get employment during the operation period," according to a statement by Chief Minister's Office of Madhya Pradesh.
