Foundation stone laid for Rs 6200 crore Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the cornerstone for the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project which will be established at a cost of Rs 6255 crore.

Naveen Patnaik said that the foundation of new Odisha has been laid on the occasion of New Year.

"The metro rail project will be completed in four years and the people of the state will avail facility of metro rail. Today will always remain in the history of Odisha’s development,” he said.

The project, he said, will have 20 stations from Bhubaneswar airport to Trishulia and it will cost more than Rs 6000 crore.

The Chief Minister further said that he has asked for preparation of a master plan for the extension of metro rail to Khurda, Puri and Cuttack.

In the first phase, the project will connect Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) with Trisulia Square. The project will be carried out with an expenditure of Rs 6,255 crore by the State Government.
