Epsilon Carbon to set up Rs 10,000-cr integrated carbon complex in Jharsuguda, Odisha

Manufacturing  -  Jan 22,2024  -

Epsilon Carbon has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government, committing an investment of Rs 10,000 crore over 10 years towards establishing an integrated carbon complex (ICC) in Jharsuguda, Odisha.

The ICC project will have a manufacturing capacity of 8,75,000 tpa, and will be the central hub for various carbon products.

The three main components of the complex include speciality carbon capacity of 5,00,000 tpa, carbon black capacity of 300,000 tpa, and advanced materials capacity of 75,000 tpa, marking a step forward in the company's production capabilities.

The project is expected to generate around 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.

The choice of Jharsuguda is underscored by the presence of an industrial ecosystem, skilled labour availability, robust infrastructure, and industry-friendly policies.

Further, the region's proximity to major steel industries and reputation as India's aluminum hub for coal tar pitch utilisation, and connectivity with ports like Paradip enhances the project's logistical advantages for smooth export operations.
