Engie to expand capacity with Rs 7, 000-crore investment by 2025

Power Generation  -  Apr 02,2024  -

Engie India plans to add an additional solar capacity of two GW in India by making an investment of around Rs 7,000 crore by 2025. The outlay will be allocated in five upcoming projects which it has secured across two states - Rajasthan and Gujarat.

This capital expenditure to bolster the company's solar capabilities will be fully deployed by 2025. Going forward, the company has a major focus on expanding solar and complex projects.

Engie currently has an operational portfolio of about 1.1 GW of renewable assets, with an additional 1.25 GW capacity secured over the past 18 months through utility-scale renewable tenders. As projected, its operational capacity would reach close to six GW by 2025, though the overall investment for the same will depend upon the type of the project and the financing required for wind and solar segments.

In recent water conservation efforts within solar projects, Engie has recently converted five of its assets across five states from water cleaning of modules to robotic cleaning, thereby saving around 60 milliliters of water.
