The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC) to supply 800 MW of electricity from 2028-29. This agreement builds on DVC’s existing contract, under which it supplies 300 MW to Haryana.
The newly signed PPA, approved by the Ministry of Power, will see DVC providing electricity from three upcoming thermal units, 300 MW from Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase-II (2x660 MW), 300 MW from Koderma Thermal Power Station Phase-II (2x800 MW), and 200 MW from Durgapur Thermal Power Station (1x800 MW). The agreement was formalised at HPPC’s corporate office in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
This deal marks a significant expansion of DVC’s supply network. Additionally, DVC has secured a PPA to supply 1,159 MW to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) and is in advanced talks with other distribution companies (discoms) to allocate the remaining capacity from its upcoming projects.
In the current financial year, DVC also signed a 490 MW agreement with Steel Authority of India (SAIL) for phased supply between 2024-25 and 2027-28.
