DKMUL to establish 1.5 lakh-litre capacity new facility unit in this town
Food Processing - Jun 26,2023 -The 4.5 lakh litres of milk that Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers' Union Limited (DKMUL) purchases on average each day will soon be produced in a new facility in Puttur.
According to schedule, DKMUL's third plant in Puttur will have the capacity to process roughly 1.5 lakh litres of milk daily. By doing this, the stress on its Mangaluru unit will be lessened, and transportation hassles will be avoided.
Union president Sucharitha Shetty said that the new plant planned in Puttur will cater to Puttur, Belthangady and other surrounding regions.
“Setting up a new plant is essential considering the growth of the organisation. We have already set up a plant in Udupi. New plants in each region will help preserve the quality of milk and avoid transportation delays,” he said.
Currently, milk procured from farmers in Puttur and surrounding regions are transported to Mangaluru dairy for processing and later sent back after packing, he said.
