Dedicated Freight Corridor Corp identifies five stations for freight terminals

Automotive Industries  -  Nov 08,2023  -

The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) is actively involved in the building of freight terminals at railway stations through its Vadodara division. The establishment of goods terminals at railway stations has possible sites identified by DFCCIL.

These terminals would be built in places like Varedia, Makarpura, New Sanjali, New Gothan, and New Udhana. To meet the needs of the local industrial goods industry, a tendering process has already started.

Furthermore, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminal (JNPT) in Mumbai is going to Dadri along an environmentally friendly corridor that is being established by DFCCIL. DFCCIL hopes to achieve energy neutrality at several stations by implementing solar energy systems through this.

As part of its ongoing progress, DFCCIL has commenced the trial run of goods trains on the newly electrified railway section connecting Gothangam to Makarpura, covering a 115 km stretch.

This new railway section spans 135 km and passes through the Surat, Bharuch, and Vadodara districts in Gujarat.
