DCM Shriram expands production with commissioning of caustic soda plant in Gujarat

Chemicals  -  Mar 31,2025  -

DCM Shriram has commissioned a new 300-tonne per day (TPD) caustic soda flakes plant at its Jhagadia chemicals complex in Bharuch, Gujarat.

This expansion increases the unit’s total caustic soda flakes production capacity to 900 TPD, making it one of India’s largest single-location producers.

The newly commissioned plant is an identical twin of a unit launched in October last year. Both plants are flexi-fuel, allowing multiple fuel options for improved sustainability and efficiency.

Caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide, is a key industrial chemical used in textiles, pulp and paper, alumina, soaps and detergents, petroleum refining, and water treatment. It is available in two forms: liquid (lye) and solid (flakes).
