Dahisar to soon transform into a commercial hub

Infrastructure  -  Jan 06,2025  -

The construction of a state-of-the-art transportation and commercial hub at Dahisar Octroi Naka is set to commence this month.

This 19-storey hub will offer parking facilities for 353 interstate buses and 1,306 motor vehicles.

Additionally, the project will feature a luxury hotel with 171 rooms, catering to passengers in transit. With an estimated investment of Rs.1,538 crore, the project is slated for completion within 42 months.

After the abolition of octroi and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in 2017, the octroi nakas at Dahisar, Mankhurd and Mulund have become defunct.

These freed up valuable BMC-owned land will be now used for interstate bus terminals. The new hub will be located along the Western Express Highway, offering easy access to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway.

The hub will serve buses traveling from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and northern states, making it a key transit point for long-distance travel. The tender for the project was issued in September 2024.

The contract for the project has been awarded to M/s. Nyati Engineers and Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. The winning bid was submitted 3.85% above the estimated rates.
