Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Central government has approved the construction of a new national highway connecting Howly, Barpeta, Hajo, and Guwahati.

This development aims to enhance regional connectivity, with land acquisition expected to be completed within one and a half years.

Additionally, the CM provided an update on the Barpeta Protected Area Bill, confirming that it has been passed and is awaiting the President’s approval. 

This bill is expected to contribute significantly to environmental conservation and heritage protection in the region.
