Brakes India, Advics to form JV for advanced products in light vehicles
Manufacturing - Jun 15,2024 -TSF Group firm Brakes India, along with Japan-based Advics, will form a joint venture (JV) firm in South India at an investment of more than Rs 500 crore to design, develop and manufacture advanced braking products for the light vehicle segment. Both the firms having a shareholding in the ratio of 51:49 respectively will fund it.
The new entity will focus on development of advanced braking products in a phased manner, and electronic stability control will be among the initial products to be rolled out. These products will be supplied through the parent companies. The greenfield project will employ more than 300 individuals over the next few years. Together, this partnership will leverage their strengths across advanced global technology, localisation capabilities, quality and manufacturing processes.
Given the impact of hybrid and battery electric vehicles (HEV/BEVs) in India and the increased demand for autonomous driving features, it would create superior offerings, led by experience and capability of Brakes India in the Indian automotive industry. Advics is Japan’s leading premium brake system supplier with a revenue of Rs 43,000 crore.
