Biogas seeing renewed interests fromReliance, Adani and other energy giants

Power Generation  -  Sep 06,2023  -

India has a rich history as a pioneer in biogas technology, with the establishment of its first biogas plant dating back to 1987. Since then, biogas has become a prominent source of energy, fuelling households, community facilities, and dairy farms across the country.

The effective nature of biogas has attracted the attention of some of India’s prominent energy giants.

For instance, Reliance Industries has unveiled ambitious plans to construct 100 compressed biogas (CBG) facilities, while Adani Group’s Adani Total Gas aims to establish five CBG plants within the next five years.

Pune’s Thermax has collaborated with Ever Enviro Resource Management to create Thermax Bioenergy Solutions, dedicated to initiating bio-CNG projects. EverEnviro is committed to investing approximately Rs 10,000 crore in this sector within the next few years.

Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Green Growth Equity Fund (GGEF), EverEnviro aims to establish fourteen CBG plants across India.
