Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a Notification of Award worth over ₹21,000 crore from Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL) for the EPC execution of the Meja Supercritical Thermal Power Project Stage-II in Uttar Pradesh.

The project involves setting up three 800 MW supercritical units, adding a total of 2,400 MW of thermal power capacity at Prayagraj district. The contract was awarded through international competitive bidding and excludes GST.

BHEL’s scope covers full EPC execution, including design, engineering, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning, with a completion timeline of about 70 months (targeting early 2032).

The project, developed by the NTPC–UPRVUNL joint venture MUNPL, will use supercritical technology for higher efficiency and lower coal consumption. It is expected to strengthen power supply in northern India while significantly boosting BHEL’s order book in the thermal power segment.
