Bhansali Engineering Polymers to expand ABS production capacity

Automotive Industries  -  Apr 22,2024  -

The Board of Bhansali Engineering Polymers Limited has taken note of a significant capacity expansion for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) production at its existing plants in Abu Road (Rajasthan) and Satnoor (Madhya Pradesh).

The capacity will be increased from the earlier proposed 75,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) to 200,000 TPA, surpassing the previous plan to increase it to 145,000 TPA.

The board has also appointed Toyo Engineering India Private Limited (TOYO) as the engineering consultant for Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and capital expenditure estimation for the project.

This move followed a detailed analysis by TOYO, which reassessed the project fundamentals including technical feasibility, space constraints, equipment sizing, actual site conditions, and capacity balancing. With the environmental clearance for 200,000 TPA now secured, the company has determined that reaching this new capacity level will be more feasible and cost-effective.

The project is set to be completed by March 2026 and will be funded through internal accruals. TOYO's final report on the project cost is expected by June 2024, which will provide the company with a more precise estimate of the necessary capital expenditure.

Additionally, TOYO noted that the increased capacity from 145,000 TPA to 200,000 TPA would not require significant additional engineering efforts, thereby further supporting the decision to opt for a larger expansion.
