Ather Energy Setting Up ₹2,000 Crore Electric Scooter Manufacturing Plant at AURIC, Maharashtra
Ather Energy is setting up a ₹2,000-crore electric scooter manufacturing plant in Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) in central Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, with capacity to produce up to one million units of vehicles and battery packs annually.
The plant forms part of the electric two-wheeler maker's broader expansion, which also includes a separate ₹400-500 crore investment in developing its latest scooter platform, EL, and its new mass-market electric scooter, Konarc, according to co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta. Konarc was launched at a starting price of ₹99,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru) across three variants, with deliveries commencing from September.
Company executives said the firm currently faces supply constraints in the short term, with supplies expected to ramp up from the December quarter of the current fiscal year, aligning with the scale-up needs the new AURIC facility is intended to support.
Ather also used the occasion of its fourth annual Community Day event in Bengaluru to announce several related initiatives, including a fifth-generation Ather Bedrock battery platform and Ather Node, a charging solution for apartment communities, both of which are expected to be supported by the expanded manufacturing base once operationa
