Ascenso Tyres Commits $100 Million to Build Giant Radial Mining Tyre Manufacturing Capability in Gujarat

Ascenso Tyres, owned by Mahansaria Tyres Private Limited (MTPL), has committed an investment of $100 million to build domestic manufacturing capability for giant All Steel Radial Off The Road (ROTR) tyres at its production facility in Panodi, Gujarat. The company had so far operated mainly in the agriculture, forestry and construction (AFC) tyre segments.

The capital outlay covers specialised radial machinery, product engineering, testing infrastructure and dedicated tooling for giant tyres, targeting deployment across coal, iron ore, bauxite and critical mineral extraction operations. It is allocated specifically for building the new All Steel Radial mining tyre manufacturing infrastructure, tooling and engineering capability, separate from the company's earlier investments in its AFC business, which have already exceeded $100 million since 2019.

The company's radial portfolio, initially covering 25-inch rim diameters, has been scaled up to include 49-inch giant tyres, with larger sizes up to 63-inch mining radials currently under development for open-pit mining and heavy earthmoving machinery. The move positions Ascenso as the second Indian tyre brand, after BKT, and among five non-Chinese manufacturers globally with the capability to produce 49-inch giant OTR tyres.

The Panodi facility, where the expansion is being carried out, is separate from the company's two-wheeler tyre operations at Saika, and total installed capacity across MTPL's segments currently stands at approximately 90,000 tonnes per annum. To support commercial rollout of the mining tyre range, Ascenso has deployed more than 15 field application engineers across mining regions in Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to monitor fleet operating conditions and tyre performance.
