Andhra Pradesh to install solar rooftop systems on all government buildings by 2025

Power Generation  -  Aug 16,2024  -

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced the installation of solar rooftop systems on all government buildings by the end of 2025.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to harness solar energy for sustainable development in the state.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday between NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN) and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (NREDCAP).

The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, according to a report on IANS.

The state government has expressed its commitment to promoting solar rooftop systems across both the domestic sector and government institutions, under the Union government's PM Surya Ghar scheme.

The scheme aims to "solarize" government buildings, ensuring that they meet their energy requirements through environmentally sustainable solar power, as per the report.
