Andhra Pradesh To Commission 24 Power Transmission Projects Worth ₹3,507 Crore By December 2026

The Andhra Pradesh government has directed APTRANSCO to complete and commission 24 power transmission projects worth ₹3,507 crore between June and December 2026. Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K Vijayanand reviewed progress at a meeting in Vijayawada and instructed officials to expedite execution across 400 kV, 220 kV and 132 kV works.

Major projects lined up for inauguration include a ₹875-crore 400/220 kV GIS substation at Atchutapuram in Visakhapatnam district, a ₹560-crore 400/220 kV substation at Gudivada in Krishna district, and a ₹380-crore 400/132 kV substation at Ainavilli in BR Ambedkar Konaseema district. APTRANSCO has already commissioned three 400 kV substations, eight 220 kV substations and 21 substations of 132 kV capacity.

Beyond the 24 projects, a total of 68 transmission projects worth ₹5,279 crore are currently under various stages of execution across the state. On completion, these are expected to add 15,224.5 MVA of transformation capacity and 1,828 circuit kilometres of transmission lines.

Tenders have already been floated for 29 new transmission projects, expected to add 4,520 MVA of transformation capacity and 700 circuit kilometres of lines. A further 72 projects are in the planning stage, with APTRANSCO expected to float tenders for these within the next three months. The works are aimed at improving grid stability, reducing transmission losses, and supporting industrial, agricultural and broader economic growth in Andhra Pradesh.
