Amazon has announced that it will invest in three new wind farms in India, further advancing its commitment to clean energy.
According to a company statement, the projects in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu will contribute more than 379 megawatts of renewable energy.
With these latest additions, Amazon’s renewable energy portfolio in India comprises 53 solar and wind projects.
These initiatives will generate over 4 million megawatt-hours of carbon-free energy annually — enough to power more than 1.3 million Indian homes.
The portfolio includes nine utility-scale solar and wind farms and 44 onsite solar arrays installed on Amazon facilities throughout the country.
“Amazon is committed to driving the carbon-free energy transition forward in both India and around the world, which will help us all address climate change at scale,” said Avinash Shekhar, head of energy and water strategy for Amazon Web Services in the Asia-Pacific, Japan, and China regions.
