Alleima Invests SEK 220 Million in Next Phase Expansion of Advanced Tubing Plant at Mehsana, Gujarat
Alleima is increasing its capacity and capabilities for advanced tubing products through an investment of approximately SEK 220 million at its existing facility in Mehsana, India. The expansion builds on an earlier phase completed at the site in 2023 and represents the next stage of development of Alleima's established Indian manufacturing base rather than a new greenfield project.
The next phase will establish local production of advanced tubes for the fertilizer industry and add capacity for larger-dimension application tubing, both serving Alleima's Chemical and Petrochemical segment. It will also add capacity for precision tubes used in compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems, along with other hydraulic and instrumentation applications.
Göran Björkman, President and CEO of Alleima, said India's chemical and petrochemical markets are growing, along with demand around natural gas, and that the investment strengthens the company's local offering by building on what has already been established at Mehsana. The Chemical and Petrochemical segment is one of the targeted segments in Alleima's profitable growth strategy.
The expansion is expected to be completed by 2028. Alleima's Mehsana facility, first established as part of a broader growth initiative starting in 2017, has previously gone through phases including a cold finishing tube manufacturing line for heat exchanger tubing, a hydraulic and instrumentation tubing factory, and a heat exchanger tube factory. The latest phase extends this progressive build-out to strengthen local supply of high-value tubing products for India's chemical, petrochemical, fertiliser and natural gas sectors, reducing reliance on imports for these specialised steel products.
