The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) is fast-tracking plans to widen SP Ring Road to six lanes due to anticipated heavy traffic in the next five to seven years.
Translink has been tasked with preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for the estimated Rs 800 crore project.
The DPR will involve designing the six-lane road, identifying new flyovers at junctions through traffic surveys, and renovating or extending the Bhat and Kamod river bridges on the western and eastern sides of the ring road.
The civic body is considering three alternatives for funding the project: self-financing with toll collection, a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, or a public-private partnership (PPP). However, the decision on this will be made after the completion of the DPR.
