Infrastructure  -  Nov 30,2023  -

Union Power Minister R K Singh said that the 13 hydroelectric projects in Arunachal Pradesh that are now under development have a combined generation capacity of 13,000 MW.

He said that these projects will bring in an investment of almost Rs 1.4 lakh crore.

Inspecting the building sites, Singh emphasized the importance of hydropower in achieving continuous renewable energy during his visit to the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh/Assam.

Singh stated that in addition to the massive Subansiri project, the Arunachal Pradesh government has inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with central public sector companies for 13 projects, resulting in a 13,000 MW hydropower capacity in the state.

These projects are expected to bring in investments totaling around Rs 1.4 lakh crore, significantly boosting the state's per capita income and providing clean power to the nation.

In addition, Singh highlighted the progress of five hydroelectric projects under construction in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasising the increasing hydro potential in the region.
