The Netherlands-based Inalfa Roof Systems and Gabriel India, a division of the auto component manufacturer Anand Group, have agreed to a technological partnership to produce sunroofs for passenger cars.
With an estimated investment of Rs 170 crore, the newly established Inalfa Gabriel Sunroof Systems (IGSS), which will initially be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gabriel India, will manufacture sunroofs at a new facility in Chennai. Operations are anticipated to begin in the first quarter of 2024.
The parties stated that the IGSS will eventually become a joint venture with Inalfa owning a 51% stake.
In the initial phase, IGSS will have a 2 lakh unit installed production capacity, with the first line serving South Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia.
