Stove Craft Ltd., the owner of the Pigeon cookware brand, is establishing a fully automated cast iron foundry to produce cast iron cookware, a fast developing cooking medium globally.
“We are currently building the country’s first fully automated foundry for cast iron cookware,” said founder and managing director Rajendra Gandhi.
“We will start production trials in December and the products from this foundry will be in the market by April 2024,” he said.
According to Gandhi, cast iron, by nature, is a good cooking medium, considered safer than other metals without coating and has high heat retaining properties which also makes it fuel efficient.
“The segment is gaining momentum in developed markets including the US and Europe. We already have large scale orders from many new and existing global cookware brands/retailers,” he said.
