The Sindi Multi Modal Logistics Park was inaugurated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
The event saw the arrival of an empty rake of containers, signalling the park’s operational commencement.
Over the next 2–3 days, the containers are expected to be filled with consignments bound for Bangladesh before embarking on their journey to Haldia, West Bengal.
From there, the cargo will be ferried to Bangladesh via river barges, significantly cutting down logistics costs compared to traditional sea routes through ports like Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in Mumbai.
Spread across 150 acres and requiring an investment of Rs 673 crore, the Sindi MMLP project has been swiftly executed, with Adrijit Biswas, Joint Advisor of NHLM, noting its operational readiness within a record time frame.
