Tthe Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana and the in-charge of the Energy portfolio, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, inaugurated a 10.5 MW solar plant in Kothagudem, Telangana. SCCL, contributing 9% to India's coal production and possessing approximately 7% of the country's coal reserves, has embarked on solar power generation to promote renewable energy and mitigate carbon emissions, according to company officials.
The company has already operationalized 224 MW of solar PV power plants. With the latest addition of the 10.5 MW plant, SCCL's cumulative commissioned solar PV capacity reaches 234.5 MW, out of the approved 300 MW capacity sanctioned by the Telangana government.
This initiative aims to fulfill SCCL's captive power requirements, subsequently reducing its power consumption expenses.
