Robot System Products (RSP), a spinoff of ABB has established Scandinavian Robot Systems India Private Limited in Chennai as part of a strategic strategy to capitalize on the growing Indian robotics market.

With a market valuation of $13.23 billion in 2022 and projected to quadruple by 2025, this expansion aims to capitalize on a high industry growth rate of over 14% yearly, notably in the automation sectors of packaging and automotive.

The company is currently importing industrial robot equipment from Sweden, but it wants to improve local production capabilities starting next year.

The move is seen as a response to the competitive manufacturing environment in India and a step towards increasing the country's robotic workforce density, which lags behind global leaders like China.

Eddie Eriksson, representing RSP, highlighted the installation of over 5500 robots in 2022 as a clear indicator of India's dedication to becoming a leading force in automation globally.
