Reliance Industries to invest Rs 65,000 crore in 500 CBG plants in Andhra Pradesh

Infrastructure  -  Nov 13,2024  -

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced a major investment of ₹65,000 crore for the establishment of 500 compressed biogas (CBG) plants across Andhra Pradesh. This move is part of the company’s strategic efforts to expand its footprint in the renewable energy sector and contribute to India’s sustainable energy goals.

The CBG plants, which will be set up over the next few years, will play a key role in producing clean energy from organic waste, helping to reduce carbon emissions and promote a circular economy. Each plant is expected to generate substantial amounts of biofuel, which can be used for transportation, industrial, and domestic energy needs, thereby reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels.

This investment aligns with RIL’s broader strategy to diversify its energy portfolio, focusing on renewable resources and green energy solutions. It also supports the government’s mission to transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, contributing to India’s targets for reducing carbon emissions and increasing the use of renewable energy.

The project is set to create thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities in the state, particularly in rural and agricultural areas, where much of the organic waste will be sourced. The initiative will also help address waste management challenges while generating clean energy for the region.

Reliance Industries has expressed its commitment to helping Andhra Pradesh become a leader in renewable energy, as the state is already a key player in India’s energy landscape. The company’s investment in CBG production will further strengthen the state’s industrial and economic development.
