Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is set to launch a new drilling campaign this June for India's first geothermal project in Ladakh, following a setback two years ago.
This project, if successful, could usher in a new source of emission-free electricity, space heating, and irrigation, addressing the unique energy needs in the cold and harsh terrains of Ladakh.
ONGC intends to start drilling the first geothermal well during the second or third week of June, with plans to complete two geothermal wells, each reaching a depth of 1,000 meters, by the end of the year.
These efforts reflect the company's commitment to exploring innovative energy sources and providing sustainable solutions in challenging environments.
