NTPC Renewable Energy has won a 500 MW solar power capacity in an e-reverse auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) on December 9, 2024. It secured this capacity at a tariff of Rs 3.52 per kWh.

The project is part of SECI's 2,000 MW ISTS-connected Solar PV Power Project and includes developing an Energy Storage System (ESS) with a total capacity of 1,000 MW/4000 MWh.

As per the terms, the company is required to set up an Energy Storage System (ESS) of 250 MW/1000 MWh along with the contracted solar capacity. The Letter of Award (LOA) from SECI is awaited.

NTPC Green Energy RE portfolio includes both solar and wind power assets with a presence across multiple locations in more than six states.

As of September 2024, NTPC Green’s operational capacity stood at 3,220 MW of solar projects and 100 MW of wind projects with an average power purchasing agreement (PPA) inked for a  period of 25 years.
