In Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh, the state-owned NHPC Ltd. is looking into developing 20–22,000 MW of pumped hydro energy storage facilities.
Before building can start, the thorough project reports and required permits may take a couple of years, according to Rajendra Prasad Goyal, director of finance.
The company is largely concentrating on hydro power because there are so many chances, but they also have ambitions to put up solar energy capacity.
With the growing increase of renewable energy sources, the government has highlighted battery and pumped hydro storage technologies as being essential for preserving a balanced grid.
The fact that these capacities are being investigated in numerous states demonstrates NHPC's dedication to assisting India's expanding renewable energy sector.
