Mundra Petrochemicals awards mega project to Nuberg EPC

Chemicals  -  Apr 12,2024  -

Mundra Petrochemicals has awarded Nuberg EPC, a global EPC and turnkey project management company, the contract to establish a 2,200 tonnes per day chlor-alkali project in Gujarat. This project, aimed at producing essential chemicals such as Caustic Soda, Caustic Flakes, Anhydrous HCl, and Liquid Cl2, as well as other by-products crucial for Mundra Petrochemicals' Green Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Project, is set to be completed within the next 15 months.

According to Nuberg company executives, the project was secured in March of this year. They emphasized that this Chlor-Alkali plant is not just a project but also signifies India's industrial strength, serving as a vital component in providing feedstocks for MPL’s comprehensive range of refineries and chemical plants. This underscores Nuberg EPC's unwavering commitment to advancing India's industrial landscape.

Despite Adani Group's previous announcements regarding its entry into the petrochemicals business as early as 2019, there has been limited progress in this area. The Hindenburg episode has also raised doubts about the group's plans for this segment of the business. Company presentations indicate that the PVC business operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary under Adani Enterprises.
