Power Generation  -  Oct 07,2024  -

Kundan Green Energy announced the commissioning of its new 10-megawatt (MW) hydropower plant in Luni, Himachal Pradesh.

The project, which cost approximately Rs 75 crore, was awarded in September 2022 and reflects Kundan Green Energy’s commitment to executing hydropower projects with best-in-class standards, timely delivery, and optimal outcomes, according to a press release.

With the addition of the Luni hydropower plant, Kundan Green Energy's total operational hydropower capacity now reaches 85 MW.

The company, which also operates solar and wind-based generation projects, boasts a total commissioned capacity of 120.5 MW.

The company and its subsidiaries currently manage four hydropower plants in Sikkim, with three additional facilities under construction that will feature larger capacities.

"We are delighted to present the Luni HEP project to the country, having commissioned it in a record 24 months. This achievement highlights our commitment to speed, quality, technology, and teamwork, benchmarked to the world’s best," said Udit Garg, Director & CEO of Kundan Green Energy.

In addition to the Luni plant, Kundan Green Energy recently received a mandate from Uttarakhand to develop a greenfield hydropower project in Okhali.

Expected to be completed by 2028, this project will generate 42 MW of power, with potential expansion to 60 MW in the future.
