Japanese group wants to set up next-gen industrial park in UP

A Japanese conglomerate of 463 companies has expressed interest in developing a next-generation industrial park in Uttar Pradesh. 

Known as Marubeni Corporation, the company is headquartered in Tokyo but has a presence in 65 countries.

In the industrial park space, the company owes credit to Dalian Industrial Park in China, First Cavite IP in the Philippines and Lat Krabang Estate in Thailand. Members of the company, which claims to offer tremendous reliability and support from agencies such as JICA (Japanese International Cooperation Agency) and JETRO (Japanese External Trade Organization), in addition to the Japanese government’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, recently made a presentation to the UP government.

Sharing details, UP Commissioner for Infrastructure and Industrial Development Manoj Kumar Singh said the company has a state-of-the-art plug-and-play model for new generation business players, besides promising foreign direct investment and a assured tenant base.

He said the matter would be evaluated and discussed in detail before invoking their proposal.

Invest UP officials said Marubeni Corporation operates a wide range of businesses globally in areas such as lifestyle IT solutions, food agribusiness in consumer products category, forest products, chemicals, besides presence in energy, infrastructure, energy, aerospace and ships, finance and real estate well, industrial machinery and mobility.

Sharing details about the next generation industrial parks, officials said the company specializes in building large industrial parks spread over 1,700-2,500 hectares that come up in different phases with the help of strong support from the local government.
